A comprehensive urban concept aimed at introducing the authentic and diverse architecture across the regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and enhancing it through design regulations and guidelines that achieve balance between authenticity and modernity. These guidelines direct architectural and urban design toward contemporary solutions that reflect the Kingdom’s aesthetic and cultural values, contributing to the development of a modern built environment deeply rooted in local character.

Saudi Architecture includes 19 architectural styles, with design guidelines distributed across the geographical zones of the Kingdom. These styles include: Najdi Architecture, Madinah Architecture, Rural Madinah Architecture, Hijazi Coastal Architecture, Sarat Mountain Architecture, Taif Architecture, Eastern Coast Architecture, Eastern Najdi Architecture, Al-Ahsa Oasis Architecture, Qatif Architecture, Northern Najdi Architecture, Tabuk Coast Architecture, Tihama Coast Architecture, Tihama Foothills Architecture, Asir Highlands Architecture, Abha Highlands Architecture, Bisha Desert Architecture, Farasan Islands Architecture, and Najran Architecture.

Public spaces are open and shared areas within the urban fabric—such as plazas, parks, squares, and walkways—that enable community interaction. These spaces enhance user experience by creating attractive and sustainable environments that support social engagement, cultural activities, and vibrant urban life. They also contribute to quality of life through sustainable designs that consider visual comfort, accessibility, and harmony with the surrounding environment.

Saudi Architecture will be implemented in four phases, starting with Al-Ahsa, Taif, and Abha for major, governmental, commercial, and residential villa buildings, and in Makkah for all buildings. Dates for upcoming phases will be announced later.

The design elements of Saudi Architecture will be incorporated into the building permit process without requiring additional steps. The same approval mechanisms will apply once the design is confirmed to comply with the guidelines and the project’s site.

Practical in-person workshops will be held, and announcements will be made through the Saudi Architecture website and social media channels.
